Requests to cloud server that requires host header

(related to Akamai message from before-- but I have better troubleshooting information). I'm tying to route traffic through stunnel to a "cloud" based-endpoint. That endpoint has a static server name-- test.authorize.net. (This is the dev sandbox for auth.net). But if you do an nslookup on test.authorize.net, you'll get back a different servername and IP, because it's so wonderfully "cloud". Stunnel apparently tries to connect to the nslookup value. The server rejects the request because it can't route it back to test.authorize.net. I've tried adding "delay = yes" and "sni = test.authorize.net", but neither work. To see this in action, a simple setup with any accept, then connect to test.authorize.net:443 in client = yes mode. This is what a valid response looks like (13 -- give me the darn merchant ID in a POST): https://test.authorize.net/gateway/transact.dll This is what you'll get if you try to use stunnel (400 invalid url) : https://23.195.204.150/gateway/transact.dll So how can I get stunnel to send the proper Request Header (host: test.authorize.net), make sure it's using http/1.1, etc?

Long ago I had a server with a bad network card. Every once in a while it would spew uncontrollable bytes onto the network. If you open a stunnel connection and it does that this could very well be the problem. If it cheap, try changing the network card. If not, you should be able to look in your firewall/router and it will tell you who is sending what bytes to whomever. See if that machine is indeed streaming the bytes in massive quantities. If not, I would suspect your stunnel is getting stuck in it's own loop. There are a million reasons this can happen (well a few less than a million) - such as maybe a bad library in the FreeBSD or a bad choice in the Makefile - such as doing threads or something in a way your O/S does not like (I use threads=fork or whatever it is, instead of actual threading). You might tinker with some of the options that make the stunnel build and try different ones. Especially if stunnel was compiled on a different version of the O/S - could be differences in bytes in things and who knows what. That is all I can suggest beyond setting the debug level to 7 (I think is highest) and then watching the log file. help configuration for socks5 nordvpn requiring authentication

Hello, I would like to use stunnel to use a socks5 server requiring user/pass authentication (nordvpn) with different clients that allow for a socks5 proxy but no authentication. Could someone help me with the configuration (linux or windows is good). In detail, I don't know how to provide user/pass to the configuration, and if it is actually feasible. Any help will be very appreciated !

I see this message in the Stunnel (client) logs during SSL handshake with the server The server requires a client certificate which has been configured in the stunnel configuration. The handshake is working fine but I was wondering what exactly does this line mean. From what I found so far, seems like there is a way for the server to specify which CA's it will accept for the client certificate and it can specify them in the ClientCertificate request that it sends This server doesnt send anything like that, so I am guessing that is the reason for this log line? Can someone please confirm? Btw, I see this line only when using TLSv1.3. Stunnel HA Options

Hello folks, I have seen a couple of other posts concerning this question but I am still unclear and wanted to see if there are any new options for 2024. What would the recommended setup for Stunnel look like for HA (high-availability)? All I need is basically to have two servers, one active and another one stand by and be able to fail over to the standby server when the active one becomes unavailable due to hardware failure, bad vmotion etc. Extra point if this setup offers automatic failover to DR as well, meaning failover to a third server that's also on standby in case of catastrophic failures on the first two. This almost looks like a load-balancing solution but not really. I say this because I tried to leverage F5 to accomplish this HA scenario and wasn't successful at it because of the way that the F5 performs active checks so often and how noisy that can be for network perimeter security setups. My main request is the local HA though, I can come up with a solution for DR later on. Any recommendation is appreciated. Thank you in advance!

Hi, It's possible that I am missing something obvious, but I was reading the manpage today and it seems like the example suggesting how to configure an email client for tunneled imap is incorrect. It suggests that the user configure their client to connect to port 119, but then the example stunnel config shows accept = 143.
