Hi,
Maybe it has something to do with the Windows built-in firewall? You could try to add a rule (exception) and/or test with the firewall disabled.

I also have a strange 4.55 error. I put stunnel 4.55 on a newly built Windows 7 32 bit system with all patches applied running as a service. When I used it to accept an incoming connection it worked fine. When I used to to originate an outgoing connection, it died with no messages. I deleted the executables and replaced them with the 4.45 versions (with openssl updated to 1.0.0k), it ran without any issues.
Is there any information I can provide to help with the problem? The originating computer was Windows 7 64, the receiving computer for the outgoing connection was Windows XP sp3.
