I did see a patch out on the web that seems to add this feature. Any chance that patch will be included in MAIN?
No. I've done a security review of this patch. There are several problems with it (including DoS vulnerability).
What can I do to "encourage" you to add that support sooner than later?
Yes. You could be a sponsor for this feature. 8-)
