Just to clear it, about your previous message, the static IP I meant is the provided by your ISP. The known as public IP asigned to your router or to your PC if it is directly connected to a DSL or Cable modem. There are several ways to check if it is dynamic, but is better to ask directly to the ISP.
Or testing with the SMTP server as you did ;-)
Nowadays is not common, even for enterprises, to be given by the ISPs an static IP to clients, and with the lack of IPv4, is less common, unless you pay for a static IP. That's why I said it. I hope that with IPv6 we'll stop having this problem (a miminum of over 18*10^18 of static IPs per client), but I think they'll find a way to mark the "residential" IPs to avoid personal SMTP servers (sadly...).
