That's interesting. I couldn't reproduce it.
Could you install strace tool and than execute: strace -f -o /tmp/stunnel.log /opt/ssl/bin/stunnel , and than send us the output of /tmp/stunnel.log?

Stunnel couldn't find /dev/null in your chrooted directory. Either apply this patch to your stunnel: ftp://stunnel.mirt.net/stunnel/startup.patch or create /dev/null device in your chrooted directory. Mike
